The ATMs are often found next to bank branches and can be used outside the banks’ normal opening hours.


Banks are normally open Monday to Friday from 09.30 to 16.00

We kindly ask you to go visit the exhibitors during your breaks. Refreshments will be served in the exhibition areas.

Certificate of attendance can be handed out at the registration desk on request.


We kindly ask the chairmen to be present in the session hall at least 10 minutes before the beginning of the session. Chairmen are responsible for keeping the timing of speakers.

Credit Cards

It is possible to withdraw money with Visa, Visa-Dankort, Eurocard, MasterCard, Maestro and JCB from the many ATMs around the country. Most places DO NOT accept American Express.

There are two currencies of equal value in the Faroe Islands: the Faroese króna and the Danish krone.

Exchange rates for the Faroese (Danish) króna as of May 2017 are roughly:

General Practitioners can also be contacted for non-emergency consultations over the telephone, usually between 08.00 and 09.00. If you need urgent medical treatment outside the GP”s opening hours, which is between 16.00 and 08.00, you should call the emergency medical service tel. 1870.


The Nordic House has good accessibility. Each room has wheelchair access, there is a handicap toilet in the foyer and two handicap parking spaces immediately outside the main entrance. 

Insurance and liability

Neither the organisers, nor the congress venue are responsible for any injury. Participants are advised to take out their own health and travel insurance.


English is the official language of the congress. No simultaneous translation will be provided.


Lunch is served Friday and Saturday. It is served in the exihibition areas. Lunch Sunday is grab and go. The catering is delivered from a local catering company.

Please note badges with The Oystercatcher1 have lunch in "Klingran" on Friday and in "Skálin" on Saturday. Badgets with The Goldcrest2 have lunch in "Skálin" Friday and in "Klingran" on Saturday.


Name badges

Your name badge will be handed to you when you check in at the registration desk.

The badge is your ticket to all scientific sessions, the exhibition areas, catering and social events. You must wear your badge on all occasions. The bird printed on the badge indicates WHERE you must have lunch.

We ask you kindly to comply with the lunch guidelines.


The Nordic House has a very limited number of parking spaces and it can often be difficult to find a space in connection with large events.

As an alternative, we would like to point you to the nearby public parking spaces by Tórsbreyt (the athletics grounds), the sports hall and in Gundadalur (by the football grounds).

If travelling by car, we advise that you arrive early and urge you to refrain from parking in a way that blocks our neighbours’ driveways or prohibits access of emergency vehicles


All fees and rates in the congress programme are given in DKK.


We kindly request all participants to keep mobile phones in silent mode. Especially in the meeting rooms during the scientific sessions.

The Faroe Islands pride themselves on having excellent telecommunication networks, offering services at competitive prices.

The country code for the Faroe Isalnds is +298 plus the six-digit number. Calls from the Faroe Islands abroad can be made by dialing 00, then the national code and the telephone number


Only pins can be used to mount posters. Pins are on the spot.

Your poster must be in English. The size of your poster: width 120 cm and height 210

cm (portrait, not landscape).

Your poster-ID number indicates the date and the position of the poster board. Posters will be at display one day. Poster viewing time will be during breaks. We would

ask you to allocate time to be available at the poster stand for questions and discussions during these breaks on the date assigned for your presentation.

Preparation for oral presentations – slide centre - speakers

We kindly ask you to register and collect your name badge, tickets etc. at the registration desk. The staff at the registration desk will guide you to the slide centre where you must upload your presentation. A technician will check your presentation to

ensure you that your presentation will function. Your presentation must be delivered at the slide centre at least 60 min. before your lecture starts.

All session rooms are equipped with data projectors and PC. The congress language

is English and presentations must be made in PowerPoint or in Keynote. The presentations

must be in 16:9 format for optimal viewing and in a resolution up to

1920 x 1080 pixels.

Programme changes

The organisers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to unforeseen circumstances.

The registrations desk is situated in the foyer of The Nordic House. Please register as soon as possible after your arrival.

The weather in the Faroe Islands is unpredictable and ever-changing. It is, therefore, a good idea to pack a variety of clothing, suited to all sorts of weather (mostly cool-ish 


Service charges are always inclued in all started prices. So you are not oblidge to tip and it is not expected.

Transport during the congress

Bus transport to and from the congress hotels* and the venue has been arranged in the morning and after the last session. Busses are also provided to and from the congress dinner on Saturday 2 September. Participants who have arranged own accommodation may take the bus to and from Hotel Hafnia.

Time schedule for all transports is in the hotel reception and at the registration desk in The Nordic House.
